FOOD & DRINK | Liver-Loving Latte

Don't shoot the messenger, but it might be time to take a break from coffee. If you are chronically stressed, your adrenals are likely struggling and the last thing you need is the added cortisol surge caused by caffeine. You don't need to say goodbye forever; just take a little coffee vacation and see how you feel. Lucky for you, I have the perfect coffee substitute - it's creamy and frothy with just the right amount of bitterness. And did I mention that luminous skin is a side effect of this tasty potion? Let's dive into the magic:

Roasted Dandelion Root Tea

If you are struggling with skin congestion, it's time to give your liver some love. When your liver is being overly taxed (hello caffeine, refined sugar, alcohol, trans fats, pesticides, dirty skin care products, etc.), it becomes incredibly difficult for it to optimally perform its primary role of detoxification. When that happens, all of the toxins that aren't being transformed by the liver and excreted from the body are shuttled back into the bloodstream. As another organ of elimination, your skin picks up the slack. Acne, skin rashes, eczema, and rosacea are just a few signs of an overloaded liver. That's where dandelion root comes in. Dandelion root is an amazing herb that stimulates liver detoxification and lymphatic flow. Most importantly, it tastes like coffee!

Tocotrienols

You might not be familiar with this fluffy powder, but once you realize its skin-beautifying potential, you'll be incorporating it everywhere you can. Tocotrienols are a rich source of bio-available Vitamin E and lend a creamy texture and vanilla-like taste to drinks. Think of Tocotrienols as a super skin food!

Collagen Peptides

Collagen peptides are everywhere right now. Collagen is one of the primary building blocks for our skin, hair, and nails and as we age our production of collagen slows. To make matters worse, sugar breaks down collagen. I like to include one to two scoops of collagen wherever I can to help offset some of that degradation. (Don't pay extra for skin care products that contain collagen - the molecule is too big to penetrate the skin when applied topically.)

Liver-Loving Latte

1 bag of Roasted Dandelion Root Tea
1 Tbsp Sun Potion Tocos
1 scoop Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
Healthy Dollop of Grass-Fed Butter

Place tea bag into your favorite mug and fill with boiling water. Let the tea steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the tea bag and pour into a blender with the remaining ingredients. Blend until frothy. Pour the yummy potion back into your mug and enjoy!
